The Lohagad Fort Trek is an easy to moderate level trek, making it ideal for beginners and families, especially during the monsoon. The fort, historically significant and standing at an elevation of about 3,389 feet, offers spectacular views of the surrounding lush green valleys, the Pawna Lake, and Visapur Fort. The trek involves ascending a well-marked path, often consisting of steps and a few rocky patches, and is particularly beautiful with misty clouds, waterfalls, and vibrant greenery.

How to Travel

  • From Pune: Take a local train towards Lonavala and alight at Malavli Station (the nearest railway station). From Malavli, take a shared auto-rickshaw to Lohagadwadi.
  • From Mumbai: Take an Express/Local train to Lonavala Station. From Lonavala, you can hire a cab/jeep or take a local train to Malavli, then an auto-rickshaw to the base village.
  • By Road: Drive or hire a cab directly to Lohagadwadi village near Lonavala

Best Time to Visit

The Monsoon Season (June to September) is the absolute best time for this trek, as the weather is cool and the Sahyadri mountains are covered in vibrant greenery and mist. It is also excellent during the winter (October to February).
