Escape to Matheran, Asia's only automobile-free hill station, for a blend of serene forest camping, adventure activities, a lively bonfire night, and morning treks to panoramic viewpoints. Stay near a heritage-style resort/mansion often associated with these campsites.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival, Activities & Bonfire Night

  • 01:00 PM: Arrive at Dasturi Naka / Matheran (Self-transfer to the campsite). Check-in and tent allotment.
  • 01:30 PM - 02:30 PM: Lunch (Unlimited Vegetarian Meal).
  • 03:00 PM - 05:00 PM: Campsite activities: Outdoor games (Badminton, Cricket) or Adventure activities like Archery/Rifle Shooting (often on weekends).
  • 05:00 PM - 06:00 PM: Evening High Tea & Snacks.
  • 07:00 PM - 08:30 PM: Evening entertainment: Forest DJ Party/Live Music (often on Saturday nights).
  • 08:30 PM - 09:30 PM: Dinner ( Unlimited Vegetarian Meal ).
  • 09:30 PM - 11:00 PM: Bonfire and Social Games/Music.
  • 11:00 PM Onwards: Open-Air Movie Screening or Midnight Trek (The trek is often a highlight and typically available on weekends).

Day 2: Sunrise Trek & Departure

  • 06:00 AM - 07:00 AM: Wake-up call & optional Sunrise Trek to a nearby viewpoint (e.g., Alexander Point or Garbett Point depending on the exact location).
  • 08:00 AM - 09:00 AM: Freshen up.
  • 09:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Breakfast.
  • 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM: Check-out and depart with memories. You can spend the rest of the day exploring other viewpoints in Matheran before leaving the hill station.

  • Accommodation: Stay in Tent (2/3 sharing basis) with mattresses, pillows, and blankets.
  • Meals: Lunch, Evening Snacks, High Tea, Dinner, and Breakfast (All Vegetarian & Unlimited for the 1N/2D package).
  • Activities: Bonfire, DJ/Music, Open-Air Movie Screening, Indoor Games (Cards, Chess, Ludo), Outdoor Games (Badminton, Cricket).
  • Special Activities: Midnight Trek / Sunrise Trek / Archery / Rifle Shooting (often on weekends only).

  • Travel: To and from Matheran/Campsite (e.g., train, cab fare, Matheran Toy Train fare).
  • Matheran Entry/Toll Fee (Applicable per person at Dasturi Naka).
  • Personal Expenses: Packaged water, extra snacks, tips, cold drinks, etc.
  • Meals/Drinks: Any item not mentioned in the "Inclusion" section (e.g., BBQ, Non-vegetarian food, if not specified as an add-on).
  • Insurance: Travel or medical insurance of any kind.

How to Travel
  1. By Train (Local/Intercity): Reach Neral Station (on the Central Railway line).
  2. From Neral to Matheran:
    • Toy Train: Take the historic Matheran Light Railway (Toy Train) from Neral to Matheran Railway Station (seasonal/availability dependent).
    • Shared Cab: Take a shared taxi from Neral to Dasturi Naka (Matheran Parking Point).
  3. From Dasturi Naka to Campsite: Matheran is vehicle-free. You must walk (approx. 15-30 mins depending on campsite location), take a hand-pulled rickshaw, or hire a horse to reach the campsite location.
Best Time to Visit
  • October to March: This is the most popular period, offering pleasant, cool weather and ideal conditions for camping, trekking, and bonfires.
  • Monsoon (June to September): Offers a lush green, misty experience, but trekking can be slippery, and outdoor activities like DJ/Bonfire may be affected by rain.

  • Garbett Point: Famous for its majestic view, especially at sunrise.
  • Charlotte Lake: The main water source for Matheran.
